The existing house was originally built in the early 1950’s and has remained with the original family since then. Used primarily as a summer cottage, the family has now outgrown the existing structure and has reached out to Kohler Architecture to assist them with updating and expanding their existing cottage.
The new addition is attached to the existing house with an enclosed glass breezeway / entryway with covered porch – it’s location to the existing house creates a protected courtyard on the roadside. A new large family room offers a 180 degree view of Lake Erie. Other interior spaces include – (2) bedrooms, full bath, indoor / outdoor storage room, office and skylight lit reading nook. The new addition will be modest and in keeping with similar materials utilizing brick, horizontal cedar siding, aluminum clad windows and asphalt shingles with metal accents on the gable ends.
